Finally stepped out of my cave after two weeks and met up with my PPG! I hadn't seen them since... End March or April? Did some shopping, a lot of window shopping, and mostly eating hahaha.
I grabbed an English breakfast tea from Starbucks that day and as I am typing this now, I realize it is nothing more than a glorified teh-o peng. Oh well.
After shopping, we walked to Wisma just to try the shiok maki from Koh Grill & Sushi Bar since EVERYONE is posting pictures of this on Instagram. We made sure to reach there before 6 just to avoid any dinner crowd. Since we went there specifically for the shiok maki we didn't order anything else.
Y'know how with overhyped things, sometimes they aren't really as good as you thought they would be? This is not one of those things. After the 3 of us each had a bite, I think we just sat in silence for a few seconds in awe of how DELICIOUS THIS THING TASTED.
Personally, I think my mental state was something like this:
It was sooo good. I love it. Please give me more.
I think it's rather expensive though. The shiok maki is $16.80 and with GST/service charge it totaled to around $18. So if you think about it, it was $6 per person for 2 and a half pieces of sushi. Amazing, glorious, sushi.
After our shiok maki experience (lol, yes, so uplifting), we went to Genki Sushi at Orchard Central for a proper dinner. We were still freaking the shit out about how good the shiok maki was so we were less enthusiastic about Genki Sushi hahaha. I still love their seared salmon with pollock roe sushi though. I think of it as a baby shiok maki which has yet to blossom (◡ ‿ ◡)
My pretty friends! Omg, Clarissa could not stop asking us throughout dinner what we were going to eat for dessert. She kept wanting us to plan ahead what dessert we wanted to eat. I don't know where all the food she puts into her mouth goes to. She is ALWAYS hungry and she's always eating BUT WHERE DOES THE FAT GO TO?
This is the salted caramel cheesecake from The Marmalade Pantry. It cost me $8 for this and I couldn't taste any salt nor caramel in this. It was so disappointing and coupled with the fact that we were discussing about university admissions, the whole thing just made me really sad. I also dropped my fork on the ceramic plate and it made a huge noise. Those two seconds of silence were the longest seconds of my entire 21 years of existence. I don't think The Marmalade Pantry will be somewhere I'm going to visit again anytime soon :(
Ending this post with a group picture! Seriously, my friends are too pretty and my eyebrows are whack.
